The Martinez Arts Association
(MAA) founded in 1968 is a not-for-profit charitable and educational 501(c)(3)
corporation. We are a cooperative body promoting and sustaining local artists
in order the Martinez community flourishes culturally and artistically and our extraordinary environment is documented and preserved.

This
is an exciting time for the Martinez Art Association. After decades
of hard work, we can see the paint flying off the proverbial palette.
We celebrated the Art Association's 40th anniversary and the mARTinez Gallery's 1st
anniversary this May! Just see our May 2008 Newsletter. Art and Wine Stroll was a significant success, as was
Bike Art in Main Street shops. We will continue to host music events, especially given the
success of the same at our Anniversary and Art in the Park.
We are now creatively integrated with Willow's Cabaret, Martinez Opera
Contra Costa, Martinez Historic Society, Martinez Main Street Association, First Night Celebration,
City Hall, Downtown Farmer's Market, John Muir National Monument, Friends of Alhambra Creek,
John Muir Festival Center, Art & Culture Commission of Contra Costa County, and Alhambra High School.
The Association has also helped students and teachers
at John Swett Elementary School to paint a mural
and the idea is catching on. My dream has been to facilitate a mural paint-off;
I can actually see it happening!
Some MAA artists are meeting each other on Tuesday
evenings at El Tapatia Mexican restaurant on Main Street, to network,
critique, and support each other.
We are also well on the road toward fund raising projects
for community celebrations, and education! The momentum is building!
