2019:  Celebrating 50 years of Art in Martinez

The Martinez Arts Association (MAA) presented the 50th annual Art in the Park festival on Sunday,August 18th, at Susana Park in Martinez, from 10 AM - 5 PM. Over 60 artists were exhibitors at this free community event.  The festival featured fine arts and crafts created by local artists, along with live music, food trucks and beverages including wine and beer.  Again this year we welcomed Five Suns Brewing as our beer vendor, and we were very appreciative to the Girl Scouts who put on the children's activity. Committee Chair Vernon Sanders served as the MC for the day. Harriet Burt made a cameo appearance.

As always, we had a great music line-up:
Thomas Martin
UnConcord
The Landbirds
Paper Kayak
Tamsen Donner Band

We had a great silent auction that raised money to support the arts in Martinez schools. Local artists created and donated items for the silent auction, including paintings, gift certificates, and other original art.

Art in the Park is the MAA’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Founded in 1968 as a nonprofit organization, the MAA organizes and participates in many community events throughout the year. Our goal is to encourage art culture and education for local youth. Fundraising proceeds provide scholarships to graduating seniors as well as art grants for elementary through high school teachers.
